Ancient Tombs Burning
Sparks Riots In Uganda
Angry
rioters have attacked policemen, fire fighters and soldiers in
the Ugandan capital, Kampala, after the tombs of five ancient
kings were destroyed overnight by fire.
A Ugandan police spokeswoman says hundreds of policemen are on
alert at the scene but cannot approach the tombs for fear of
assault.
A Buganda member, George Senvuma says he believes the government
may be responsible for the fire which started Tuesday night.
The Police have denied the charge.
In September, riots broke out in Kampala when security agents
clashed with Buganda members over the prevention of the Buganda
king from travelling to a region near the capital on security
grounds.
