Officials Undergo Training
ECOWAS
external trade officials are undergoing a training programme in
Lome, Togo, designed to ensure a standard statistics
methodology.
The five-day workshop, a joint project of the ECOWAS and UEMOA
Commissions as well as the European Union and Eurostat, is part
of the capacity building programme for the twenty participating
countries.
It will equip officials with the skills to harmonise procedures
for compiling statistics which are mostly obtained from customs
declarations.
The training would also facilitate regional external trade
statistics generation to be used for planning, monitoring trends
and ensuring uniform application of data validation base.
The participants, involved with the compilation of statistics,
are expected to apply common application and procedures to
external trade statistics compilation after the training.
