Saudi Securities Foil Alleged Terror Attacks
Saudi
Arabia has foiled terror attacks and arrested
forty-four suspected militants who were planning the
attacks.
The interior
ministry says weapons, ammunition and
detonators were also found, in a series of
operations over a three-week period.
The ministry,
quoted by local media, said the militants tried to
recruit youths and finance "deviant" activity.
Al-Qaeda-linked
militants launched a violent campaign to destabilise
the country in 2003, and the authorities responded
with a fierce crackdown.
The Saudi Press
Agency said all but one of the militants were Saudi
nationals, and some had been trained in the use of
light and heavy weapons. They were arrested between
tenth July and second August.
