Nigerian Envoy To US
Pledges To Strengthen Ties

The
new Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Professor Ade
Adefuye has given assurances that he will work towards
strengthening existing cooperation between Nigeria and the US.
Professor Adefuye said in Abuja, after a briefing with Acting
President Goodluck Jonathan that he would collaborate with
officials in the US to make Nigeria an investment haven.
Ambassador Adefuye, who was Nigeria’s former envoy to Jamaica,
told VON Correspondent Aliyu Othman, that he would evolve
measures to strengthen cooperation between Nigeria and the US,
based on the Vision 20:20:20 agenda.
He said there was also the need to ensure that Nigeria secures
the support of the American government to assist her in
achieving the set goals of the Vision, which seeks to make
Nigeria one of the best twenty economies in the world by the
Year 2020.
Adefuye said the thrust of his diplomatic policy will also be on
attracting investments to petroleum, agriculture and other key
sectors of the economy.
He commended the electoral reform process and the amnesty
programme as good initiatives of the government.
