Nigeria To
Serve On
World Anti- Doping Agency’s Board
Nigeria
has been nominated to serve on the Executive Committee of the
World Anti-Doping Agency, WADA, for a one-year
term in 2011.
She was nominated for the seat at the third session of the
African Union Conference of Ministers of Sports,
held in Abuja, Nigeria.
Nigeria will
replace
Tunisia on the
committee. The North African country takes the place of
South Africa on the committee in Year 2010.
More Nominations
The session also nominated
Mozambique to
replace
Mauritius on
the WADA Foundation Board in 2010 for a three-year term that
ends in 2012.
Seychelles is also to join the Foundation Board in 2011,
replacing
Cameroon for a
three-year term that ends in 2013.
The ministers’ meeting in
Abuja also
urged member-countries to pay the arrears of their annual
contributions to WADA and ratify the
UNESCO
Anti-Doping Code.
The ministers, in their report, said that failure to pay the
contributions would disqualify defaulting countries from hosting
major international sporting events.
Egypt
will host the next session in 2011.
