Acting President
Goodluck Jonathan Appoints New National Security Adviser.
The
Nigerian Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has appointed
retired Lieutenant- General Aliyu Gusau as the New National
Security Adviser.
Gusau replaces Major- General Sarki Mukhtar, appointed by
President Umaru Musa Yar’adua in 2007.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant (Media and
Publicity) to the Acting President thanked Mukhtar for his
services to the nation and wished him well in his future
endeavours.
The decision was taken after a marathon meeting of the National
Security Council presided over by the acting president.
Briefing State House Correspondents, the Senior Special
Assistant to the Acting President on Media and Publicity, Mr.
Ima Niboro said the crisis in Jos took the centre stage at the
meeting.
The meeting was attended by Secretary to the Government of the
Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, Nigeria’s Attorney-General and
Minister of Justice, Mr. Adetokunbo kayode and other service
chiefs.
