Nigerian Leaders
Urged To Find Permanent Solution To Recurring Violent Clashes
UN
Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has called on Nigerian leaders to
find a permanent solution to recurring violent clashes in the
country.
Reacting to Sunday's violence in Jos, Plateau State ,Ban said he
was concerned about the mayhem that left hundreds of people dead
in the Jos South Local Government Area.
Ban described the mayhem as a very serious problem which
Nigerian leaders should resolve.
He appealed to all concerned to exercise maximum restraint.
Ban said Nigeria's political and religious leaders should work
together to address the underlying causes and to achieve a
permanent solution to the crisis in Jos.
In January, Ban had issued a similar statement when clashes in
Jos left hundreds of people dead with thousands displaced.
