Opec Satisfy with Nigeria Export Quota

The
Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries ,Opec, has
expressed satisfaction with Nigeria ‘s crude oil Production.
The Chief
Econonic Adviser to the Nigerian President ,Mallam Tanimu
Yakubu said OPEC was pleased with Nigeria ‘s crude oil
production quota as a result of amnesty and peace in the Niger
Delta region.

Mallam Yakubu
said in Abuja that Nigeria and Saudi Arabia could when nessary
increase the supply of crude oil Stabilze fuel crisis in the
world market.

The Chief
Economic Adviser Stated that the economic value of the amnesty
has started to manifest in the rise of exportof crude out of
Nigeria ,such that for the first time ,Nigeria was getting
closer to its OPEC Oquota.
He said the
economic value of peace in the Niger Delta has also manifested
the rise in oil revenue accruing to the three tiers of
government and assured of President Umara Yar’Adua’s commitment
to the development of the Niger Delta.
The Chief
Economic Adviser said government was willing to accommodate the
demands of the region in the Petroleum industry regulatory bill
now before the National Assembly.
CONTRACTS APPROVAL
In a related
development ,government has approved additional contracts for
the gas pipeline projects and power transmission towards
increased electricity generation ,supply and distributions in
Nigeria .
The minister of
information and communications,Professor Dora Akunyili said at
the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting that the
consutancy services for Abeokuta Abuja–Ajaokuta–Kano gas
pipelines worth over N13 billon to fast track the rehabilitation
of railway tracks from Lagos to Jebba and the implementation of
Lagos to Kano rail way lines modernization project.
