Nigeria To Assist
Sierra Leone In Oil Exploitation
Acting
President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Sierra Leone of
Nigeria’s assistance in efforts to exploit its oil resources.
Jonathan said in Abuja on Tuesday while hosting Sierra Leone’s
President Ernest Koroma that there was need for African
countries to cooperate in the area of trade by exchanging
knowledge and ideas.
He congratulated the government of Sierra Leonean Government for
the discovery of oil in and emphasised the need to encourage
indigenous companies to play key roles in its exploitation.
President Koroma thanked Nigeria for her support and assistance
over the years, saying that Sierra Leone was willing to tap from
the wealth of experience of Nigeria in oil exploration through
training and capacity-development activities.
He acknowledged the contributions of Nigerian private investors
to the Sierra Leonean economy, saying that about nine Nigerian
banks are currently operating in his country.
