Nigerian President Calls For
Re-dedication
Nigeria’s
President, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua has asked the citizenry to be
rededicated to good conduct, honesty and love for humanity.
The President, in a Sallah massage after joining thousands of
Muslims for the Eid-el-Fitr Prayers at the National Eid ground
Abuja, said that the concluded fasting was meant to further
improve the level of discipline attained by Moslems.
President Yar'Adua urged the people to desist from acts that
were inimical to the nation's progress, asking them to make
Nigeria and the World a better place to live by displaying
exemplary virtues.
Prayers were offered for peace, progress and the
nation's development.
In the same vein, Senate President, Mr. David Mark, urged
Moslems to continue to pray for unity, peace and progress of the
nation.
In a message on the end of Ramadan month and celebrations of
Eid-El-Fitr, he called for perseverance, tolerance and good
neighbourliness among Nigerians and enjoined Moslems to imbibe
the virtues of sacrifice, selflessness and service to the
people, which Prophet Mohammed stood for.
The Nigerian Senate President reminded Moslems and other
Nigerians that love of one another, peace and unity were
required, to achieve the nation’s quests for greatness.
While canvassing for religious harmony among religious groups in
Nigeria as the bedrock of peace, unity and mutual cooperation,
he gave an assurance that the National Assembly, under his
leadership, would continue to be people oriented and would
formulate laws that would facilitate effective and efficient
service delivery to Nigerians.
