GoodLuck Jonathan Urges Nigeria’s Development.
Acting
President GoodLuck Jonathan has called on Nigerians to imbibe
the culture of Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I) to
hasten the country’s development.
In a message to the 2010 Commonwealth Day celebration in Abuja,
Jonathan said that for Nigeria to join the global trend, it must
move towards transformation to a knowledge-driven society.
According to him, Science and Technology remained the primary
driving force upon which any society desirous to develop and key
into globalisation, will accomplish its aims and objectives.
He described the theme for this year’s celebration "Science,
Technology and Society" as apt for focusing on the importance of
science and technology on the quality of life of all
Commonwealth citizens.
The Minister of Education Dr Sam Egwu who declared the event
open said the occasion creates a forum for the promotion of
understanding on global issues and mutual co-operation among
member countries.
