Sign Agreement On Gas
Nigeria,
Algeria and Niger Republic have signed an agreement
to build a multi-billion dollar pipeline to
transport Nigerian gas across the Sahara to the
Mediterranean
The agreement was signed by Nigeria’s Minister of
Petroleum Resources, Dr. Rilwanu Lukman, Algerian
Minister of Mines and Energy, Dr. Chakib Khelil, and
Malam Mohammed Abdoulahi, Niger's Minister of Mines
and Energy.
Milestone
The project, which will cost an estimated thirteen
billion dollars, aims to deliver up to thirty
billion cubic meters of gas per year to European
markets.
Dr. Lukman described the agreement as a milestone in
the collaborative effort to commercialise Nigeria’s
huge natural gas resources.
