Niger Delta Youths
Urged To Embrace Post-Amnesty Peace Process
The
Governor of Kaduna State, Northern Nigeria, Namadi Sambo has
appealed to Niger-Delta youths to embrace the post- amnesty
peace process for the environmental and infrastructural
development of the region.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of this year’s Annual General
Meeting of the Nigeri-Delta Youths Development Forum, (NDYDF) in
Kaduna, Governor Sambo said the emphasis on peace and security
was founded on the premise that no meaningful development could
be achieved in any part of the nation without adequate peace and
security.
Admonition
He called on all youths to be vanguards of lasting peace and
security for Nigeria, particularly the Niger-Delta region.
Sambo also emphasised the youths of the region to imbibe the
virtue of patience and perseverance for it to see the physical
transformation, as the region was becoming a challenge for
engineers.
Sambo expressed concern over the recent bomb blast in Warri,
Delta state and the protest by the former militants in Benin,
Edo state.
Sambo called on the youths to condemn all aspects of militancy,
terrorism, kidnappings and oil bunkering in the region for the
sake of peace and development.
Earlier, the President of the Forum, Mr Francis Ohaniaghun, said
it was the first time the AGM was held outside the Niger-Delta
region.
Ohaniaghun said it was part of the effort by the forum to
promote national unity and integration.
He said the objective of the meeting was to review activities of
region with view to ensuring youth’s empowerment and their
general development in the previous year.
