Delta Pledges MDGs
Actualisation
The
Delta state government in Southern Nigeria has promised speedy actualisation of
the Millennium Development Goals, especially the aspects involving women and
children.
The state governor, Mr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, at a meeting with UNICEF officials
expressed the government’s commitment to issues involving women and children,
because they represented the nation's prime assets.
He said government had taken steps to ensure
the survival of women and children, through various policies and programmes to
improve their lot.
The UNICEF Country Representative in Nigeria, Mr Karim Akadiri, said the meeting
had exchanged views on issues affecting women
and children.
He appealed to mothers to visit healthcare facilities for vitamin 'A'
supplements, routine immunisation, de-worming, growth monitoring and malaria
control services.
