Islamic Bank Partners Northern Kaduna State
The
Islamic Development Bank, IDB, says it is partnering with the Kaduna state
government in Northern Nigeria, for infrastructure development.
IDB’s Vice President for Operations, Mr. Biraima Sidibe, said while inspecting a
water treatment plant project in the state capital, Zaria, that the initiative
was aimed at identifying with the state in areas where the bank could be of
assistance.
He said IDB would support the authorities in Kaduna state to achieve development
goals for the people.
The bank is already involved in financing the construction of four Science
Secondary Schools and a fully equipped 250-bed space hospital.
The state governor, Namadi Sambo said that the bank had agreed to support the
state in critical infrastructure, including education and health while
submissions had been made for assistance in other areas, such as agriculture,
irrigation dams and micro financing.
Nigeria had, on October 30th, signed an agreement for infrastructure
development projects worth over seventeen million dollars with the bank.
Nigeria is among the fifty-two countries that are financial members of the IDB.
