HIV/
AIDS Agency To Establish Youth Friendly Center
The
National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA, is to
establish a thirty-five million naira Youth-Friendly
Centre in Kogi State University, Central Nigeria.
The Director-General of the agency, Professor John
Idoko told newsmen in Lokoja that the project was
part of the agency's effort in the fight against HIV
and AIDS.
Strategies
He said that the country needed to put more
strategies in place to fight the pandemic,
especially in the area of prevention.
According to him, the youth are vulnerable to risky
behaviour more than older persons, and the
establishment of such centres in higher institutions
will help to sensitise them on the scourge.
Professor Idoko said that poverty, lack of proper
education and prostitution has contributed to the
spread of the pandemic.
