Indonesia Sets Up
Green Fund
Indonesia
is setting up a green investment fund which aims to raise one
billion US dollars.
The fund will boost infrastructure developments to combat
climate change.
Edward Gustely, a senior adviser at the ministry of finance in
Jakarta, announced that the Indonesian government would
contribute 100 million US dollars to the Indonesia Green
Investment Fund.
The remaining 900 million US dollars is expected to be
contributed by foreign governments and investors.
Meanwhile, China's official Xinhua news agency has reported that
Beijing has already met its 2010 emissions targets, one year
ahead of schedule.
The Chinese minister of environmental protection, Zhou Shengxian,
said China had reduced emissions of major pollutants by 10 per
cent below 2005 levels, thanks to the mandatory installation of
scrubbers in coal-fired energy plants.
