Kwara State Gets N90m From World Bank
The
World Bank has released ninety million Naira to the Kwara state
government for the implementation of the FADAMA III programme.
The bank's Coordinator of the programme, Dr. Herbert Ben, said
in Ilorin that the grant was in response to the payment of the
forty million naira counterpart fund by the state government.
He briefed the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural
Resources, Professor Mohammed Yisa, informing him that the team
was in the state to assess the level of preparedness for the
take-off of the programme.
He commended Governor Bukola Saraki for the positive
transformation of the agricultural sector and the implementation
of the FADAMA programme.
Ben also commended the level of participation of rural farmers
in the programme and stressed the need for the state’s technical
team to work according to the World Bank guidelines.
The agriculture commissioner attributed the high level of
participation to the priority given to the agricultural sector.
He gave the assurance that the state government would distribute
the fund to genuine farmers in line with World Bank guidelines.
