Festival Of Arts And Culture Open In Grande Style

The
modest appreciation of Nigerian arts and culture by delegates
from 36 states heralded the opening of the 2009 National
Festival of Arts and Culture, NAFEST, in Minna, Niger state,
North central; Nigeria.
The
annual event is aimed at showcasing Nigeria's cultural
potentials and raising awareness on the need to promote the
patronage of Nigerian arts and crafts.
Speaking
at the opening ceremony, the Nigerian First Lady Mrs. Turai
Yar’Adua said the opportunity of the interactions created by the
festival would build of bridge of understanding, harmony and
peace amongst Nigerians.
She also
said that the event would go a long way in contributing to the
actualization of the seven point’s agenda of the present
administration in the country .
Earlier,
the Minster of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, Mr
Bello Jibrin Gada, said that NAFEST has evolved over the years
as a creative fair that unites the nation.
He urged
Nigerians to look inwards, with a view to harnessing and
developing the country’s cultural heritage.
