JAMB Deploys Scanners
To Combat Exams Fraud
Mercy Oko, Lagos
The
national examinations body, Joint Admissions and Matriculation
Board, JAMB, says scanners will be installed at centres to track
examinations fraud in forth coming exercise.
The scanners would be deployed for use during the first Unified
Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME coming up on Saturday,
17th April 2010.
The ultimate aim of the initiative is to detect examination
malpractices, minimise examination vices and ensure only
registered candidates sit for the examinations.
JAMB says its officials have been trained on the operations of
the scanning machines.
Voice of Nigeria correspondent reports that the Lagos Office of
JAMB is set to conduct the scheduled examination, with all the
logistics put in place for a successful conduct.
Historic
Candidates have been advised not to bring any materials into the
examination halls. JAMB says all the necessary writing materials
will be provided.
For the first time in Nigeria, JAMB is conducting a Unified
Tertiary Matriculation Examination, a single examination for
admissions into Universities, Monotechnics, Polytechnics and
Colleges of Education.
Nigerians have applauded the initiative and urged JAMB to ensure
that the desired goal is achieved
