Congo Gets Debt
Relief From Paris Club And Brazil
The
Paris Club of sovereign creditors and Brazil have agreed to
cancel all of the debt owed to them by Congo Democratic
Republic, in a deal worth around two point four billion dollars.
The two groups in a statement said the debt cancellation was a
contribution towards restoring the Republic of Congo's debt
sustainability.
The statement said the agreement would provide a cancellation of
nine hundred and eighty-one million dollars.
Paris Club creditors also expressed their intention to grant
additional debt relief of one hundred percent, on a bilateral
basis, for one point four billion dollars.
