Central Bank Governor Meets International Investors   In London

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Lamido Sanusi is to meet with international banks, lenders and rating agencies in London on Friday to discuss a recent two point six billion dollar bailout of five commercial banks.

He would also use the opportunity to   defend his latest actions on banking reforms in Nigeria and give a boost to the Nigerian financial system.

Moral Boost 

In line with his commitment to give moral boost to the Nigerian banking sector, Sanusi would be  accompanied to London by the new management of Afribank, Finbank, Intercontinental Bank, Oceanic Bank and Union Bank.

According to a statement from the CBN,   Sansui’s presentation would to greater extent, address recent developments in the macroeconomic environment and banking sector in Nigeria.

The CBN had injected four hundred billion naira into the five banks on the fourteenth of August and sacked their senior management.

Taking Stock 

Before his visit to The United Kingdom,  the Central bank Governor   Sanusi Lamido called on the EFCC boss , Mrs. Farida Waziri , to take stock of the developments in the banking sector ,more importantly the payment of debts and final checks on  debt figures.

Similarly, Mrs Waziri had held talks with five new bank Chief of Executives appointed by the  apex bank after their predecessors were fired.

Cecilia Ibru In Custody

Finally, the former Chief Executive Of Oceanic Bank, Mrs Cecilia Ibru has been interrogated and kept in the EFCC’s custody over her role in granting loans to  some customers of the bank.

Mrs Ibru gave herself up at the EFCC office in Lagos on Thursday for interrogation after the anti graft body declared her  and the former Chief Executive of Intercontinental bank , Erastus Akingbola wanted.
