Sentences Ex- NPA Chairman, Others
An
Ikeja High Court on Monday sentenced Olabode George, a former
chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority and four other board
members to two years imprisonment without an option of fine.
In the judgment, Justice Olubunmi Oyewole sentenced the accused
persons to two years each on a seven-count charge for abuse of
office and another six months each on a 28-count charge on
willful disobedience to lawful authority.
The
sentences are to run concurrently.
Sentenced
with Olabode George, a chieftain of the ruling Peoples
Democratic Party, were former NPA Managing Director, Aminu Dabo,
Olusegun Abidoye, Abdullahi Aminu Tafida, Zanna Maidaribe and
Sule Aliyu.
The crimes
commission, EFCC had filed corrupt practices charges against
them, for financial impropriety involving about N84
billion and disobedience to lawful authority as well as abuse of
office.
