assured that Nigerian Journalists were ready to cooperate with
the police to uncover those who killed Bayo Ohu.
In its determination to press home its demand, Mohammed Garba
led a delegation of the NUJ to present a protest letter to the
Lagos State Commissioner of Police and the Governor over the
murder.
Late Bayo Ohu was murdered by gunmen on Sunday morning in his
home.
In the last three years, three journalists- Ogundeji, Godwin
Agbaruku of ThisDay Newspapers and lately Bayo Ohu from the
Guardian were felled by assassins’ bullets in Lagos.
Tributes Doyin Mahmood
Meanwhile,colleagues in the pen profession have continued to pay
glowing tributes to another Journalist, Doyin Mahmood, the Vice
President Commonwealth Journalists Association, who died on
Sunday.
President Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mohammed Garba, in
company of other Journalists, described the death of Doyin
Mahmood as a great loss to the Nigerian media.
Outstanding Career
Doyin 58, was a founding staff of The Guardian Newspaper, who
crafted the style book for the media organisation and rose to
become the ‘’Training Editor”.
He left the Guardian to become the pioneering Chief Executive
officer of Daily Independent Newspapers and left for the
academia to establish the Department of Mass Communication for
the University of Ilorin.
He died of Diabetes and has since buried according to Muslim
rites.
