Badagry Cultural Folks Festival To Meet
International Standard
The
Badagry Cultural folk’s festival is to be
transformed to meet International standard.
African Renaissance Foundation, the organiser of the
recent Badagry Cultural Folks Festival, made this
promise in a post event review.
The President of the Foundation, Babatunde
Olaide-Mesewaku, told newsmen in Badagry that the
festival was a rich cultural heritage aimed at
preserving Nigeria’s culture and to develop the
tourism potentials of Badagry.
Badagry is one of the slave ports in West Africa and
first center of western civilisation in Nigeria.
Mr Olaide-Mesewaku also promised to elevate the
Fishing Festival held in Gbaji-Yeke in the area, to
attract world attention to Badagry.
He urged the people of the area to appreciate the
potential of tourism, which is God’s gift to the
community, just as the people of Niger Delta were
blessed with oil and gas.
