ASUU update

On the strike by university lecturers, ASUU, he said that negotiation was being intensified on all contending issues with a view to resolving them amicably, therefore appealing to ASUU to call off its strike.

Despite the assurances of payment, the unions say they have resolved to embark on the planned indefinite strike, beginning from Tuesday, seventh of July.

The organisations include the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Nigeria Television Authority, Voice of Nigeria and the News Agency of Nigeria.

‘Our stand’

The State Council Chairman of RATTAWU, Mr. Adedeji Okuboyejo said that the action became necessary after government had failed to honour its promise to pay the arrears by the second quarter of the year.

Mr. Okuboyejo regretted that strike was the only option left since various measures had failed to achieve any positive result.
