Asks Italy To Probe Murder
Nigeria’s
House of Representatives is seeking to compel the Italian government to carry
out investigations into the alleged ill- treatment and brutal murder of a
Nigerian, Mr. Emmanuel Ngozichukwu Ajoku by the Italian police.
The committees on Diaspora and human rights and foreign affairs are championing
a motion and debating issues surrounding the death of the Nigerian while
condemning the act and seeking compensation.
Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the committees’ spokesperson, expressed concerns about
the constant reports of harassment and killing of Nigerians in foreign
countries.
She expressed the resolve of the committees to collaborate with relevant groups
and officials in the ministry of foreign affairs to put a stop to such
incidents.
The family of the deceased had filed a petition to the government claiming foul
play in the circumstances surrounding the death of late Ajoku, whose life was
allegedly cut short in its prime by the Italian security operatives.
