Vietnamese
tourists have been attacked in South Africa by robbers. The men of the
underworld followed the tourists from the Oliver Tambo International
Airport in Johannesburg.
The South African police told Von Correspondent Southern
Africa Correspondent that the three men were attacked when they got to a
house in Brooklyn in the capital city Pretoria, from the airport.
Victims Account
Police captain Collette Weilbach said the men reported
that they were dispossessed of their luggage and cell phones at gun
point.
However, national police spokesperson Senior
Superintendent Vish Naidoo maintains that the robbery could be a
coincidence, following his dismissal recently, of allegations that there
was a criminal syndicate at the airport targeting tourists.
Tales of Woes
Last week, a Nigerian was robbed of his luggage on
arrival at Johannesburg’s Westcliff Hotel from the airport and the US
embassy has claimed that fourteen Americans have been robbed at gunpoint
either at their destinations or on the way there from the airport in the
past year.
In July last year, South Africa's High Commissioner to
the United States Dumisani Khumalo was reportedly robbed at his son's
house in Johannesburg on his arrival from the airport.
