Urges Private Sector To Invest In Railway

The Nigerian Government has offered
an olive branch to the Private sector to invest in
the revitalisation of it railway.
Under the new arrangement, railway
tracks would be concessioned to interested private
investors.
This was part of the resolution of
the Federal Executive Council at its weekly meeting
on Wednesday.
According to the Minister of
Transport, Ibrahim Biu, government has resolved to
revive the Railway transportation system in line
with its seven point agenda.
Mr Bui said that the Council ratified
the President’s anticipatory approval for the
purchase of twenty modernised diesel locomotives
aimed at reviving the Nigerian Railway Corporation
for effective service delivery to Nigerians.
He said that the process would have
positive effect on the Inland waterway
transportation and create more employment
opportunities.
