Ghana Unveils Nations
Cup Team
Six
members of Ghana's victorious Under-20 World Cup squad are among
the 23-man team unveiled by Coach Milovan Rajevic for next
month's Orange Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
Skipper Steven Appiah, who has been nursing an injury, was left
out while Sulley Muntari was also dropped but, no reason was
adduced for his exclusion.
Michael Essien was included in the squad in spite of his injury
and injury-prone John Mensah was also invited as well as Bayer
Leverkusen's defender Hans Adu Sarpei, who is making a come-back
to the team after a long lay-off.
Black Satellites skipper Andre Ayew, Golden Ball winner Dominic
Adiyiah, midfielders Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Opoku Agyemang,
goalkeeper Daniel Agyei and right-back Samuel Inkoom were
included in the Luanda party.
A report on the build-up to the January 10th to 31st tournament
on cafonline.com said the Ghanaians will open their camp on
December 28th in Nelspruit, South Africa and are scheduled to
leave for Angola on January 8th.
Ghana will face Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire and Togo in the
first round of the championship.
