U-17: Turkish Team Qualifies For
Quarter Finals
The
Turkish team has qualified for the quarter finals of the FIFA U-17 World Cup
after defeating the United Arab Emirate, UAE 2 - 0 at the Enugu.
The team on Wednesday played ten against eleven players of UAE, scoring their
first goal barely two minutes after match kick-off and at the 90th minute also.
The goals were scored by Turkish Furkan Seker and Ufuk Ozbek.
At a post match press conference, Turkish coach, Abdullah Ercan described the
match as the most difficult one to be played by the team since the tournament.
The coach, who expressed delight over the 2 - 0 victory against UAE, said, ’’Our
target is to win the cup at the end of the tournament.’’
He said that the artificial turf made it difficult for his players to perform
effectively.
The assistant coach of the UAE team, Alarfi Salim expressed disappointment,
saying lack of experience made his players not to perform well.
He however thanked the fans for their support and congratulated the Turkish team
on their victory.
Turkey, which has qualified in group D, Enugu Centre, will meet Columbia at the
quarter finals on Sunday, November 8 in Bauchi.
