The
Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the arrest of two
Nigerians by Malaysian authorities, with alleged links to Umar
Farouk AbdulMutallab, who attempted to bomb a U.S airliner on
December 25th, 2009.
The two Nigerians were among 50 people arrested while
attending a religious talk by a Syrian University lecturer on

The authorities later released forty people after interrogation.
Mr. Ozo Nwobu, the ministry's spokesperson said in Abuja that
the suspects were doctoral students in Malaysia.

services are given to these Nigerians and they are also
adequately protected.’’ He said.

Anegbe, has remained in touch with the ministry since the story
broke as well as the Malaysian authorities,’’ Nwobu said.
