Super Eagles' head coach drops players

Nigeria captain, Joseph Yobo has been dropped from the Venezuela game billed to hold in Miami in the USA on November 14.

Super Eagles' head coach, Stephen Keshi believes his side can perform without the centre-back, who is recovering from a knee injury at Turkish Super Lig side, Fenerbahce.

The 32-year-old , Yobo was not part of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying against Liberia in Calabar last month in which Nigeria won 6-1.
Yobo has been left out alongside three others - Osaze Odemwingie, Papa Idris and Reuben Gabriel, who was named Player of the Year in the Nigerian top flight at the 2012 League Bloggers Awards in October.

Keshi has opted to leave out Odemwingie to concentrate on club commitment with English side, West Bromwich Albion.

The duo of Kano Pillars' players, Gabriel and Idris are recovering from different injuries and Keshi feels they are key players for the 2013 Afcon who should not be rushed back.

“We don’t want to rush them back into the national team because we already know what they can do, let them heal well and then we hope they will be in good shape for the Nations Cup proper,”Keshi said.
