Senegal, out of Africa Cup of Nations
Senegal, a pre-tournament favourite of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, is out of the tournament.
Co-host of the championship, Equatorial Guinea, qualified for the quarter finals of the tournament after it defeated Senegal 2-1 in the second round of a group A match at Estadio Bata.
Moussa Sow’s 89th minute strike cancelled out Iban Randy’s 62nd minute opener, but David Alvarez’s 94th minute goal ended Senegal’s dream.
Equatorial Guinea becomes the first country to qualify for the quarter finals of the tournament establishing how unpredictable the tournament could be.
Earlier, at the same venue, Zambia and Libya played a two all draw, leaving Equatorial Guinea topping the group with six points, Zambia four points, Libya one point and Senegal no point at all.
Libyan striker, Ahmed Saad Osman scored the opening goal in the 5th minute of play with the Chipolopolo’s striker, Emmanuel Mayauka equalising in the 29th minutes before the end of the first half.
In the second half, Osman doubled the lead in the 48th minute while Christopher Katongo equalised for Zambia in the 54th minute before the regulation time
