Nigeria Athletics Federation guns for medals at London Olympics

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, says it is doing everything possible to ensure that Nigeria performs better in the track and field event of this year’s Olympic Games in London.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, the President of the Federation, Solomon Ogba, said they had lined up many programmes where the best athletes would be selected to represent the country.

He, therefore, appeals to the Nigerian government to urgently make fund available for the Federation in tackling some of their demands.

The AFN President assured Nigerians that athletes selected to feature at the London Olympics would not disappoint the Nation.

The final list of those who will represent Nigeria in the Olympics will be known on June 22nd when the final trial would have been held.

The 2012 London Olympic Games is scheduled for August.
