The Nigeria Swimming Federation says the 2012 Chief of the Naval Staff swimming championship has been scheduled to hold in the southern Nigerian city of Calabar between July 11th and 15th.

In a release signed by the Secretary of the Federation, Gloria Chinwuko, the championship earlier planned to commence this week, was moved to the new date, in order to accommodate more states interested in participating.

Mrs. Chinwuko said the Calabar tournament would help the federation to prepare the country’s swimmers for the African zone two senior swimming championships.

One of the swimmers from Cross River state in southern Nigeria, Ede-Odion Faith told Voice of Nigeria that she was already picking up ahead of the event.

“Well Yes, I have been training very hard and as you can see my training is ok because our coaches make sure we work with the standard time but I am not overloaded in training. The training is what I am concentrating on so that I can be fully ready for the championship”.

The Chief of the Naval Staff Swimming Championship is an annual event of the Nigeria Swimming Federation aimed at discovering new talents in the country.
