Agbim leads home-based Eagles

New Rangers signing, Chigozie Agbim, heads a pack of nine home-based Super Eagles named for the Wednesday’s friendly game against Venezuela in Miami, USA.

Other home-based players on the list released by Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi, are Sunshine Stars captain, Godfrey Oboabona and Heartland left-back Benjamin Francis.

Warri Wolves centre back Azubuike Egwueke, Sunshine’s Solomon Kwambe; Zango Umar (Kano Pillars), Henry Uche (Heartland), Sunday Mba (Wolves) and Ejike Uzoenyi (Rangers), complete the list of home based stars for the friendly.

The Eagles had earlier defeated Water FC of Abuja 3-1 in a warm-up game courtesy of two penalty goals from Mba and a header from dropped Pillars forward, Mohammed Gambo before the list was released.

The home-based players are expected to depart the country on Sunday after the team was granted entry visas to the United States of America on Friday.

Foreign-based players
Nigeria has also called up 11 foreign-based professionals led by Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi for the friendly match.

The other professionals are Elderson Echiejile (Sporting Braga), Austin Ejide (Be’er Sheva), Raheem Lawal (Adana Demispor), Onyekachi Apam (Rennes), Nosa Igiebor (Real Betis) and Ogenyi Onazi (Lazio).

Also called up are Obafemi Martins (Levante), Brown Ideye (Dynamo Kiev), Victor Moses (Chelsea) and Shola Ameobi (Newcastle United).
