The
ninth edition of Nestle' Milo Nigerian Secondary
Schools Basketball Championship will kick off on
Tuesday, 16th and end on the 20th of
October.
Klaus Wachsmuth, Managing Director
and Chief Executive of Nestle' Nigeria Plc, said in
Lagos, South West Nigeria, that the competition,
scheduled for the Indoor Sports Hall of the National
Stadium, Lagos, is to encourage youths at the
grassroots to embrace sports.
Assurances
Colonel Sam Ahmedu, a member of the
board of Nigerian Basketball Federation, NBBF and
coordinator of the events says the expectation is to
ensure the championship grows in scope.
Walter Okafor, a business manager of
Nestle Nigeria Plc says that they expect a leverage
that will take the championship to higher heights.
Previous editions of the competition
had remarkable impact, serving as an avenue to
recruit young talents for future competitions, both
at local and international levels.
The opening match on October 16th
will be between Model Secondary School, Abuja,
Northern Nigeria and Government Teachers College,
Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, South Eastern Nigeria.
