Released Iraqi Journalist Off To Jordan
An
Iraqi Journalist, Muntazer al-Zaidi, released after
serving a jailed term for throwing his shoes at the
former United States President, George Bush, last
year has travelled to Jordan for medical check up.
He told a news conference after his release that he
was tortured in prison and lost a tooth.
Mr al-Zaidi's family claimed prison doctors
repeatedly injected him with "unknown substances"
and that he was also allegedly tortured with
cigarettes and had his nose and ribs broken for
refusing to sign an apology letter to Bush and
Maliki.
Apology
The TV Journalist apologized to the Journalists
Union for his rude behaviour hurling his shoes at
Bush during a press conference with Iraqi Prime
Minister Nouri al-Maliki last December.
He became a hero in the Arab world for attacking
former President George Bush.
