Petroleum Company Signs Agreement With Russian
Firm
The
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC and a
Russian Firm, GAZPROM, have agreed to build a two
point five billion dollar gas power station and
refineries across the country in a new joint oil and
gas venture.
Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, told newsmen
after a meeting with President Umar Yar’Adua in
Abuja, that the venture between the two companies
was aimed at building Refineries and gas power
stations across the country.
Speaking specifically on the prospects of the
agreement on gas project between the two countries,
President Yar’Adua said that Nigeria has a lot to
offer.
The deal could strengthen Russians position as a
supplier of natural gas to North America and Europe.
Nigeria has the world’s seventh largest gas
reserves.
