NIGERIA SEEKS U.K’S ASSISTANCE IN
OIL AND GAS

Nigeria
has solicited the assistance of the United Kingdom in capacity
building in the oil and gas industry.
The Minister of State for Energy
(Petroleum), Mr. Odein Ajumogobia made the request while
receiving the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Bob
Dewar, in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
He stressed the need for
Nigerians to acquire the necessary skills to be gainfully
engaged in various aspects of the industry.
The minister said many companies
were operating in the nation’s downstream sector whose people
needed to be trained on special skills.
Ajumogobia recalled the long
historical linkages between both countries, including political
and economic relations and urged Britain to assist through
training and empowerment programmes for Nigerians.
Mr. Dewar, stressed the need to
identify and discuss the specific areas of cooperation between
the two nations. He said his country would partner with Nigeria
in human capacity development and strengthening of Institutions.
