Niger’s Junta Names
Prime Minister
The military junta in Niger Republic has announced Mahamadou
Danda as the country’s Prime Minister, following the February
eighteenth coup.
Non committal
The junta has said it
would consult with civilian leaders about elections, but gave no
indication of a time frame.
Junta spokesman, Colonel
Abdulkarim Goukoye said members of the military junta and
transitional government will not be allowed to stand in promised
elections.
The World Heath Organization has expressed concern about food
shortages, affecting millions of people in Niger.
