Nigeria To Launch Gemstones In The US
Nigeria
is to launch gemstones to Hollywood stars in the US.
Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Mrs. Deziani
Allison-Maduekwe said the Ministry was collaborating with a
Nigerian international Jeweller, whose clients include the
A-List Hollywood actors and rappers, to create a line of
Jewellery, using purely Nigerian gemstones.
She said the idea behind the project was to attract the
attention of international stakeholders to the quality and
quantity of the country’s gemstones.
The Minister said the Ministry was doing everything to ensure
that the sector got the necessary exposure and the right
investment.
Allison-Maduekwe expressed optimism that the mining sector
could, if well articulated, contribute about 20 per cent to the
Nation’s Gross Domestic Product.
She said the recent invitation by the London Stock Exchange to
the Ministry to make a presentation was an indication that the
sector was attracting foreign investors.
