Ukraine to establish study centres in Nigeria
The Executive Secretary, Nigerian-Ukrainian Business Council, Mrs Nkechi Odoh, has said that the Ukrainian Government is planning to establish study centres in Nigeria.
Odoh told newsmen in Lagos, South-west Nigeria, that the establishment of study centres was part of Ukraine Government’s move to strengthen educational relations with Nigeria.
The study centres
She explained that the centres would be for Ukrainian educational institutions.
"Plans have reached advanced stage by the Ukrainian Government to set up preliminary study centres in different parts of Nigeria. This has become important due to the increasing number of Nigerian youths seeking to study in that country,’’ Odoh said.
According to her, 50 percent of African students currently studying in Ukraine are from Nigeria.
The executive secretary said that the study centres would assess and prepare students desiring to study in Ukraine for their courses.
Mutual exchange programmes
She said that the centres would also provide a platform for both countries to engage in educational exchange programmes. Odoh noted that the centres would give businessmen and women, investors and tourists access to information about Ukraine.
“It is expected that in the near future, more Nigerian students will be going to Ukraine through a mutual exchange programme,’’ she said.
The executive secretary said that Ukrainian Government was committed to supporting Nigeria in the area of science and technology education.
