US commends Nigeria on peace keeping role

The US has commended the Nigerian government for its critical role played in peace and development of the African Continent.
The Chairman, Africa Sub-Committee in the US Congress, Mr. Chris Coons made the remark when the US ambassador to Nigeria and two members of US Congress paid a visit to the Nigerian Vice President, Namadi Sambo in his office.
Mr. Coons, who commended the role of Nigeria in Ivory Coast, said Nigeria had a vital role to play in the Sudan’s Abyei Crises and urged Nigeria to mediate.
He said that Nigeria should convince the Sudan authorities to broker peace with the country’s South for the best interest of Africa.
In his own remarks, Nigerian Vice President Namadi Sambo also commended the United States of America for its support and assistance towards ensuring speedy transformation of the Nigerian economy.
“I am highly delighted to note the readiness of the United States to further strengthen our cooperation. This is really the time that we need this cooperation,” he said.
