US commends Nigeria’s National Youth service scheme

The US ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Terence McCauley has commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), saying it is preparing future leaders for the country.

Ambassador McCauley said this when he visited the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga on Monday.

McCulley said he was impressed with the performance of the corps members during the April general election.
In his words, “the election could not have succeeded without the engagement of the corps members, who were well behaved during the election”.

Brigadier-General Tsiga commended the ambassador for identifying with the scheme during its trying period and asked for partnership with the US.

Tsiga berated the unwarranted attack on corps members in the violence that erupted in some states in the north after the presidential election of April sixteen.
