Trial of MEND leader adjourned

The trial of the leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta in Nigeria, MEND, Henry Okah has been adjourned till October by the South Gauteng High Court, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Okah is accused of being the mastermind of two deadly car bombings in Abuja, on the 1st of October, 2010 during Nigeria's 50th Independence anniversary which led to the death of 12 people and injured many.
He was arrested in Johannesburg the following day.
The trial was to have commenced on Monday, but prosecutor, Shaun Abrahams and Defence Attorney,Rudi Krause, told Judge Geraldine Burchers that they had agreed to ask or a postponement until October.
No reason was given for the postponement, but the Judge granted the request.
Okah faces numerous charges including engaging in terrorist activities as well as delivering, placing and detonating an explosive device.
The prosecution plans to call 103 witnesses.
