Pakistan To Improve Ties With Nigeria
The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has suggested an enhancement of its trade relationship with Nigeria .
Pakistan 's Acting High Commissioner, Mr. Ahmed Sihorey stated this in Abuja while on a follow-up to the Ministry of Commerce and industry, to facilitate the re-opening of Pakistani Trade Mission/Office in Lagos .
Mr. Sihorey said the office was meant to facilitate easier trading and boost investments in both countries.
He called for more joint venture between the private sectors of both countries, urging the Nigerian Government to fast track the signing of a draft trade agreement.
The Permanent Secretary in the Nigerian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Abubakar Mohammad said that the volume of trade between Nigeria and Islamic Republic of Pakistan had improved to the tune of $1.7 billion since 2007.
Dr. Mohammed also said that the trade volume improved tremendously compared to the previous years. He said the Nigerian government had created a favourable environment for trade and investments to thrive in the country.
He indicated that a pending trade agreement between both countries would be ratified as soon as necessary processes were completed and that the government would ensure that the proposed trade missions in both countries become a reality.
