Three LGs in Enugu state to benefit from MDG programmes

Three local government areas in Enugu State, in the Eastern part of Nigeria, have been selected among the 113 council areas to benefit from the pilot programmes of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Conditional Grant Scheme.
 
At the end of the meeting of the State Economic Planning Commission in Enugu, the State Commissioner for Information, Mr Chuks Ugwoke told reporters that the three council areas were Aninri, Igbo-Etiti and Isi-Uzo Local Government Areas.
 
Mr Ugwoke stated that the commission had given its approval for these three local government areas' participation in projects most needed in the communities. He listed the projects to include, education, water supply, health care and agriculture.

Project funding

According to the Commissioner, the projects are to be funded through co-financing arrangement by the Federal, State and benefiting local governments in the ratio of 50 per cent, 30 and 20 per cent, respectively.

He urged the benefitting Council chairmen to embrace these laudable projects and be exemplary to other states by ensuring its full implementation in all ramifications.
