| Commission Vows To Stop Corrupt Candidates
The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mrs. Farida Waziri has said that the body will stop corrupt politicians from contesting the 2011 elections.
Mrs. Waziri stressed that commission's stance when she received a delegation from the Code of Conduct Bureau.
She said allowing persons whose cases were pending in courts to contest the elections would make a mockery of the nation's democracy.
She said the Commission would cooperate with other anti-graft agencies including political parties and the Independent National Electoral Commission to achieve its aim.
The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Mr. Sam Saba, said the bureau was committed to the fight against corruption and stressed its readiness to cooperate with the EFCC.
He said the bureau had introduced some aggressive strategies to fight corruption including verification of assets of political office holders.
